we spent the better part of the weekend in middletown, connecticut, with our friends and their angelic bebe, for their annual christmas tree getting. the day starts and ends in this colorful place. every brick is fair game! here, my lavender house could never be out of place.
according to tradition, the day begins with a diner breakfast to end all diner breakfasts, and ends with a beer at the pub across the street. Bebe and crew thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
(yes, we actually decorate the tree as well. in my mind, all activities begin and end in food and drink.)
I wann go to this magic town, its like everything is made of candy! They'd have the best Christmas trees too I bet.
ReplyDeleteour traditional end of the day joint has like twenty christmas trees tied to the building, hanging at precarious angles, with a constant stream of holiday tunes piped into the street. AWESOME.
DeleteSOOOOOOO my kinda place!!
DeleteI would never have known there lies hidden in CT, a gem of street/public art and happy typography. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteHow fun! If only we all had a bit more color in our lives. And storefronts.
ReplyDeleteMiddletown, CT, is a really vibrant town (in more ways than one!). And it'll be even more vibrant next summer when the hordes of Regency-bedecked visitors with the local Jane Austen Society chapter invade the town for a "Jane Austen Summer Camp"! There will be many double takes, I'm betting!
